menopause series 1

Moving your body & changing body composition through the menopause…

It can be hard.

A turbulent time for many of us, with life moving at full force, it can sometimes feel a little out of control…

You may or may not have gained body fat in your perimenopause.

But where you now hold body fat may have changed, changing your shape and that can be so frustrating.

Through menopause, the equation for managing body fat levels doesn’t actually change:

More energy in = gain

Calorie deficit = loss

BUT there is  nuance…

Your decision making changes.

Your body’s response to things you’ve always relied upon changes.

You need to be more adaptable than ever, at a time when you are more knackered, stiff and busy than ever before. All before you’ve even factored in a potential brain fog.

Through menopause a willingness to try different things and be patient enough to see the results of these changes is necessary.

But when you can’t sleep like you used to, have a body that aches and feels stiff like never before and are having to make changes that the other people around you aren’t making, that can make it feel almost impossible.

There are some simple things you can try that could give you a better chance to effect the changes you’re after. I’ll detail some in ‘part two’.

BUT first your most important and likely most challenging task is to:

Prioritise yourself.

Until you do this, it will be very difficult to implement any lifestyle changes in a meaningful way.

You have probably tried many different diets, exercise methods and all the supplements out there. BUT if you’re not prioritising yourself, your adherence was probably lower than necessary.

And in all honesty a regulated nervous system is likely the missing part to what you’ve tried before.

Without a regulated nervous system, no diet, training regime or supplement will have the desired effect.
